About this policy

Cookie Editor is a browser extension provided by Joseph Corleone. It lets you inspect, create, edit, search, delete, import, and export browser cookies, and clear site data to troubleshoot websites.

This policy describes the extension’s data handling through its popup, side panel, options page, and DevTools interface.

Data the extension accesses

  • Cookie information: names, values, domains, paths, expiry dates, and other cookie attributes needed for cookie management.
  • Website and tab information: browser tab URLs and related tab information used to identify websites, show their cookies, and refresh affected tabs after a site-data reset.
  • Extension preferences: local settings such as theme, advanced cookie display, export format, animations, and DevTools preferences.

Cookie values may contain personal identifiers or authentication and session tokens. The extension handles this information locally to provide the features you use.

Local processing & storage

Cookie contents and tab information are processed locally in your browser. Cookie Editor does not send this information to the developer or an external server. The extension contains no analytics or telemetry and does not download or execute remote code.

Imported cookie text is processed locally and saved as browser cookies when you choose to import it. Exporting cookies copies the requested cookie data to your clipboard; it does not upload that data.

Interface preferences are stored in local extension storage. Cookies remain in the browser according to their expiration settings and your browser controls, unless you edit or delete them. The developer does not retain copies of cookie contents or tab information.

Clipboard exports and copies you save elsewhere remain until you or your system removes them. You control any subsequent sharing of that exported data.

Why permissions are needed

cookies
Read, create, edit, delete, import, and export cookies for websites you authorize. The options page supports browser-wide cookie operations after requesting permission for all websites.
tabs
Identify the active website, update displayed cookies when tabs change, and reload or reopen matching tabs after you clear site data.
storage
Save extension preferences locally in your browser.
sidePanel
Display the cookie management interface beside the website you are viewing.
browsingData
Remove the selected site’s cookies, cache, local storage, IndexedDB, service workers, and other supported website storage when you choose to clear site data.
scripting
Run a function bundled with the extension in authorized website tabs to clear sessionStorage and localStorage during a site-data reset.
Website access
Optional website permissions allow cookie management on the websites you approve. You can review or revoke this access in your browser’s extension settings.

Data use & sharing

Cookie Editor uses the data it accesses solely to provide its cookie management and site-data reset features.

  • It does not sell or transfer user data to third parties.
  • It does not use user data for advertising, profiling, or purposes unrelated to these features.
  • It does not use user data to determine creditworthiness or for lending purposes.

Cookie Editor’s use of information received from Chrome APIs complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.

Your controls

You choose which website permissions to grant and can revoke them through your browser’s extension settings. You initiate cookie imports, exports, edits, deletion, and site-data resets.

At your request, a site-data reset removes supported cookies, cache, local storage, session storage, IndexedDB, and service-worker data for the selected site and refreshes affected tabs. Available deletion depends on browser support and the permissions you grant.

You can remove the extension through your browser’s extension settings. Cookies are website data held by the browser; removing the extension does not itself delete all website cookies or copies of data you previously exported.

Editing cookies or clearing site data can change website behavior or sign you out of websites. Cookie Editor does not reset your browser’s website permission choices, such as camera or notification permissions.
